Located on the Cathedral Road, the Academy of Fine Arts is among the oldest fine art houses in India. Present in the form of a bright gallery on ground floor, it features exhibitions by local artists regularly. There is a museum section upstairs that is closed for unknown period. The entry to the academy is free. Harrington Street Gallery (located on 2nd floor, 8 Ho Chi Minh Sarani) and Aakriti Gallery (located on first floor, 12/3A Hungerford St) are among the imaginative private galleries.
TheBirla Planetarium which is designed on the tunes of Sarnath’s classic Buddhist stupa is situated on the Chowringhee Road. It runs slow-moving half-hour star shows in English between 1.30pm and 6.30pm. The ticket for the show costs Rs. 30.
