Greetings to all from Calgary where the weather forecast this morning mentioned the S-word for the first time and it was only +3 when I woke up. I guess ski season is getting closer.
My wife and are planning a month in Africa in Feb 2010; that is as far as our planning has gone so far. Our family doc is South African so we have to go there.
Obviously we want to see animals. We like wanderings through cities and seeing stores and markets. We like historical sites & ruins. We live in the mountains and enjoy hiking. I am a SCUBA diver and would like a couple of days of diving.
We are wide open to suggestions from those that have proceeded us.
What kind of clothes do we need? We blew it last year when we went to Eastern Europe, we had to buy jackets it was so wet & cold.
Are there plentiful ATMs? I am used to showing up in a country with no cash and using ATM machines.
Any thoughts on safety?
Any thoughts on transportation?
Any thoughts on accommodation? Our preferred is B&B or private homes.
Fellow , I am prepared to act as a sponge.
Thanks very much for any input.
