This beautiful Swaminarayan group Hindu temple is located on National Hwy 24 in Delhi, quite close to the Noida turning. This was inaugurated in 2005.Almost 3000 volunteers and 7000 artisans helped in constructing Akshardham. This temple was built according to the principles of Vastu Shastra and Pancharatra Shastra. This is made up of salmon colored sandstone with an interior carved from white marble in giddying detail.
The temples have been designed in accordance with ancient Vedic text known as the Sthapatya Shastra, and it features a blend of architectural styles from across India. There are around 20,000 carved deities including those of Ram, Sita, Siva, Parvati and Laxmi Narayan and Radha Krishna, and these depict the traditional Gujarati, Orriya, Rajasthani and Mughal architectural elements. n the exteriors there are 148 carved elephants, each one is different. You need at least a half a day to as there are so many things here to see and enjoy. You could even enjoy a boat ride through 10,000 years of Indian history, elaborate animatronics telling stories of the life of Swaminarayan, and musical fountains.
