The Anangpur Dam is located quite close to the village of Anagpur village, this is also known as Arangpur which is located in the district of Faridabad in the Indian state of Haryana. This dam is located at a distance of only 2 kms from Surajkund.
The Anangpur Dam is quite unique as it features the Indian hydraulic engineering structure and was originally built during the rule of King Anangpal of the Tanwar dynasty in 8th century.
One can approach the dam from Delhi- Mathura road. The dam looks quite ancient and has a solid gravity dam structure, which looks like a pre-Islamic structure. The dam fords a local stream which is 7 metres in height and 50 metres in length and is located between the two banks. The dam has been constructed with quartzite stones which are available locally.
There are entry manholes located on the top of the dam, these lead into the body of the dam for checking for inspection and controlling the flow through sluices for downstream uses.
Anagpur is located at a distance of 1 km from the dam and New Delhi is at a distance of 19 kms.
