Assam is a state located in the North Eastern part of India and even shares its border with countries like Bhutan and Bangladesh. Dispur is the beautiful capital of this north eastern state. There are seven states located in the Eastern region of the country, and because of this these states are known as seven sisters, and these states are Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya as well as Assam. Assam is connected to the rest of the country by a piece of land located in West Bengal, known as the Siliguri Corridor, also known as the "Chicken's Neck".
Assam as a state is very rich in language, literature as well as culture. Assam is well known all throughout the world for its beautiful tea gardens, tea and for the petroleum resources, the beautiful Assam Silk, even for the wildlife. Assam is becoming very popular for the wildlife and it is becoming a popular destination for enjoying and exploring wildlife. For those of you are fond of wildlife, and then Assam is the place to visit. Manas and Kaziranga are the two UNESCO world heritage sites based out of Assam. Here you would find some rare species like the Indian Rhinoceros, Bengal Florican, Wild water Buffalo, Ganges Shark, Golden Langur, Burmese Python, Black Pond turtle, Red headed vulture, Bengal tiger, Barasingha, and many other animals and reptiles.
The people of Assam are known to worship the Hindu god Vishnu and upon visiting this beautiful state you will notice many Hindu temples located here. Upon visiting this state you will notice that the people are very warm and very hospitable too. The common dress code is the “gamosa”, which is red and white scarf, which is mostly worn by men.
