The Avantiswami temple is a very old temple and is as old as 110 years. This is known to be a twin temple which has been dedicated to the Hindu gods, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. An interesting thing about the temple is that the temple has been made in unconventional Greek architecture. The temple is located at a distance of 28 km from Srinagar.
The temple was originally named after the famous king, Awantivarman and is the home to twin temples of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The origin of temples goes back to 9th century AD and today one can see the remains of the once a beautiful architecture which was later excavated during the 18th century. The sight of the temples is very beautiful and one is taken aback by the intricate artwork and a peaceful surrounding. The temple can be visited on all days of the week from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
