Bara-lacha la also known as Bara-lacha Pass, is a very high mountain pass which is located at an altitude of 16,040 ft above sea level and is based in the Zanskar range, which basically connects Lahaul district in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh with Ladakh in Jammu Kashmir and is located along the highway to LehManali. Towards the north western side of the pass is the Bhaga River and the Chandra river flows towards the South east.
The Bhaga River is believed to be tributary of Chandrabhaga or the most commonly known as Chenab River. The Bhaga river originates from the Surya Taal which is located just a few kilometers from Manali. The pass is also a division of water between the river Bhaga and Yunan Rivers.
