The Bala Quila is known to the oldest known structure located in the city of Alwar, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The place is well known for its rich heritage. The Bala Quila is actually a fortress and is known as a monument of historical and cultural importance. There is no entry Fee for visiting the fortress. The fortress was at one point in time occupied by the Mughals, Khanzadas, Pathans and then finally by Maharaja Pratap Singh. The fortress has stood there for more than 6 centuries. This is located at a height of 300 meters on the Aravalli hills.
The fort overlooks the city of Alwar. The fort is located at a height of 7 km and one can even take a vehicle up to its grand gates. The current state of the fort is quite sad and is mostly in a dilapidated state around the boundaries. One can still see the huge gates, arches and the unending battlements. The different walls of the fort have been adorned with very fine ancient scriptures and sculptures which appear crafted. There are six gates of the fort known as Chand Pol, Jai Pol, Suraj Pol, Laxman Pol, Krishen Pol and the Andheri Gate. One can see a beautiful Sita Ram temple located within the premises of the palace and is visited by devotees.
