The Bankey Bihari temple is located in the sacred city of Vrindavan. This is known as by far the most sacred and well known temple dedicated to Lord Krishna in India. The term “Bankey” refers to “Bent at three places” and “Bihari” stands for “Supreme enjoyer”. Lord Krishna is known as Bankey Bihari ji and he is worshiped and looked after as a child in this temple. As you visit this temple you will notice that the style of worshipping god is quite different as compared to the other temples. All the festivals are celebrated in a very unique manner in this temple. Bankey Bihari Ji is dressed up and offered cuisine food which is prasad, as per the season. The temple is at all times decorated with flowers and is always well lit. One does not hear the sound of bells or conch in this temple as Bankey Bihari does not like the sound of bells or conch. One can only hear the chanting of ‘radha naam’.
