A stunning collection of artifacts made from driftwood collected from the beach are on display at the Bay Island Driftwood Museum. Recognized by the Limca Bookof Records as the only driftwood artifacts museum, a visit to the place leaves you stunned with its artistic and intricate work. All the exhibits at the museum have been collected and transformed by Ms Raji Punnoose, who is also the proprietor and curator of this museum.
As a school teacher based on the island, Ms Raji Punnoose enjoyed collecting driftwood that the ocean would leave behind on the beaches. Gathering these pieces of driftwood, cleaning them and then using her creativity to give them various shapes soon turned from a hobby to a passion, which resulted finally in this display at the museum. This amazing museum situated in a scenic village of Kumarakom is unique in itself and offers a colossal exhibition of root sculptures and driftwood articles in a delightful fashion. Remember to visit it with your kids in tow.
