The Bijolia fort is located in the city of Bhilwara in the Indian state of Rajasthan, was also known as Vindhyavali. The history of the fort goes back to the 12th century. The Bijolia Fort is considered as a marvelous piece of architecture. The fort is believed to have been created by the Chauhan Dynasty and they encouraged art and architecture in Bhilwara. The delicately and intricately carved arches, pillars, chattris and doorways are considered to be the most remarkable portions of the Bijolia fort.
One can also see many temples and lingams located within the fort. The Shiva temple is by far the most well known temple which is located towards the outer edge of the fort and the Hajareswara. There is a pond which is located right outside the temple and this is considered to be quite sacred. The fort is not much visited by the people and is still awaiting its share of popularity, and waiting to be discovered and explored by the masses. One can click some nice photographs in the fort. There is no entry fee for visiting the Bijolia fort. The fort can be visited on all days of the week from 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
