The Birla Mandir is located at a distance of 2 kms from the main city ofHyderabad. The temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Vishnu who is also known as Lord Venkateshwara. The idol of the temple is 11 feet and has a carved out canopy which looks like the lotus flower and adds to the overall beauty of the temple. The idol of Lord Venkateshwara is sculptured in an Oriyan style of architecture. The architecture of the Birla Mandir is simply amazing and is made in South India, Rajasthani and Utkala style architecture. The temple is made out of 200 tonnes and is built out of pure white Rajasthani marble. This temple is built on a high hill which is a 280 feet high hill known as the Naovadh Pahad. It took 10 years for the construction to get completed. One can see deities of Hindu gods like those of Hanuman, Shiva, Ganesha and Saibaba. The temple was sanctified by Swami Ranganathanan of Ramakrishna Ashram in 1976. Since he wanted the temple to be utilized more as a place for meditation, there are no are no temple bells in the temple.
