The Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary has been recently added to the list of biodiversity hotspots present in the Western Ghats. However, for long, it was frequented by tourists its majestic Brahmagiri Peak, rare species of flora and fauna and unusual geography. Home to many varieties of life, this beautiful and lush sanctuary was notified as one in the year 1974.Stretching across over 180 sq km, The Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary lies in close vicinity to the Nagarhole National Park and is made all the more beautiful by coffee plantations and the lush greenery beyond.
You will find a few human settlements in close proximity to the sanctuary, along with many paddy fields and lush coffee plantations. Man-elephant conflicts are not uncommon in this region and the sanctuary serves as an important elephant corridor too.
