The Champakulam Valia Palli Church is believed to one of the oldest church dotting the landscape of Kerala. It is one of the oldest Catholic Syrian churches located in the Allepey district. There is no concrete proof to this but it is believed that the church was established in 427 AD and has been rebuilt manay times.
The history of the Valia Palli Church has been gauged by the various stone inscriptions found in the building. The church’s rich history is depicted in the numerous prized handicrafts found in the area.
