The Chandrabhaga beach is around 3 kms from the Sun Temple and is a major attraction for the local people. Tourists who come to visit the Sun Temple also visit here and enjoy the time. This place holds mythological importance also as it is believed that the Lord Krishna's son Sambha, carried out penance here and ultimately got cured of leprosy. It is believed by the pilgrims that the water of this place contain medicinal properties that can cure diseases. You can easily walk or get a rickshaw to reach there. The beach is very beautiful and much quieter than the beach in Puri. The beach is very clean and the color of the water looks like green. But the currents here are very strong that's why this beach is not ideal for swimming. You can enjoy the sunrise at the beach which is very beautiful and refreshing too. I suggest you to visit this place just before sunset. At that time the beach turns golden and the view is absolute magical. You can also enjoy the International Sand Festival celebreated here in the first week of December which attracts sand artists from all over the world.
Also there is a fishing village in the east where a lot of fishing activity can be seen during the mornings. If you go towards the west you will find much cleaner and calmer beach.
