A witness of glorious Goan history, Corjuem Fort offers visitors a blend of beauty and incredible art. This little fort is one of the two inland forts that still survive in Goa and is known for their great strategic importance in history. The fort was initially in control of Bhonsles but Portuguese occupied it later on who used it as their strategic defence point against the Rane Rajputs, the Marathas and the Bhonsles. The fort is built using pitted laterite and houses a small chapel, dedicated to Mae de Deus (Mother of God). Situated on a beautiful island, the fort is surrounded with pristine natural grandeur.
