Goa was originally inhabited by the Portugese, so there is a Portuguese touch in the culture of Goa. The People of Goa are said to be extremely fun loving and fond of music and football. Not many people are aware of that Goa was also at one point of time known as “The Rome of the East”. Considered to be one of the most westernized states of India, Goa is frequented by visitors all throughout the year and people from different parts of the world come to enjoy their vacation here. The people here are quite easy going and simple by nature. People are quite religious and like to celebrate every festival with the same level of zeal and enthusiasm. There is a feeling of brotherhood and people don’t discriminate between different religions. Everyone gets together and celebrates all the festivals in Goa. Here you find plenty of temples, churches, and even mosques. People here usually follow a tropical lifestyle where they ensure they have a “siesta” time from 1pm to 4pm. They are very fond of music, dance and parties. The rate of literacy is very high in this state and mostly everyone talks in English. People are also well mannered and know how to conduct themselves with visitors and respect each other.
