One of the major tourist destinations is the Dal Lake in Srinagar. This is well known all over the world. Upon visiting this beautiful and mesmerizing place one will notice a huge, flat sheet of water which looks like a mirror in which one can very clearly see the carved wooden balconies of the houseboats along with the misty peaks of the Pir Panjal mountains.
It is a beautiful sight to see the armada of the happy shikaras, these are the taxi cabs, which have been painted and all these shikaras are standing all around the lake. All the day to day activities are conducted with the help of these shikaras, like goods are transported from the market, children go to go school, and even traveller’s move from the houseboat to shore. There are a couple of shikaras which go to the Britisher’s rule however there are modern ones too. Mostly the tourists prefer to stay around the Dal Lake in one of these Shikaras. Quite close to the Dal Lake is the Botanical Garden, for which the entry timings are from 7:00am to 6:00pm, and there is an entry fee of Rs. This botanical Garden is quite well known amongst the people who would like to spend an afternoon while relaxing with their families.
