What are the famous festivals and events in Goa?

Goa is the smallest state in India, however is believed to have the largest heart!!! Upon visiting Goa you will notice that people are very open and broadminded and extend a warm welcome to everyone visiting this beautiful and enchanting place. This is the reason why each and every festival is celebrated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm. In Goa people from different religions celebrate all festivals together.
The most popular festival is the feast of St. Francis Xavier is. This is held towards the beginning of December, every year. Apart from this there is also a feast of the three local kings, which is held on the 6th of January. This is also known as the “Epiphany Day”, is celebrated with music, drums and trumpets, It is believed that the kings offer gifts to Jesus Christ on this day. Goa carnival is held for three days, a little while after Easter. Colorful processions are taken out with a lot of music and dance.
Nag Panchami is also celebrated with a lot of fervor as a lot many number of snake charmers. Apart from these festivals Diwali, Holi, also known as Shigmotsav and Christmas is celebrated with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm.
