Finding a hotel - a useful strategy

I learned something in the process of looking for a hotel in Sorrento, Italy on the Amalfi Coast. Many of you may know this already, but I wanted to share my experiences. for hotels in Italy and elsewhere. The guest comments were very informative. Then I did a google of the hotel I was interested in. Went to hotel`s website to check things out. Then went to tripadvisor for that hotel usually on same google page near the top. There one finds a lot of photos and comments. Combining all that I ended up with my choice. People are very generous with their comments and even give specific room numbers to avoid or ask for. I ended up calling the hotel in Sorrento because I wanted to make sure we got a good room, not always a given. I was able to be specific thanks to all the reviews I read. The live webcam says it all - not good today on the Amalfi!! A picture is worth a thousand words for sure. Many thanks to those of you that shared your Amalfi experiences with me. They are all in a word doc ready to print out.
