The Garo Hills can be visited much easily from Guwahati than from Meghalaya. Upon visiting these beautiful hills you will notice the beautiful landscape and the charming rice fields, the cassava-patch and orange orchard, the hillsides of exhausted jungle which is choked with gourd-creepers and bamboo thickets.
The town is not clearly visible from the Garo hills, but the cottages can be seen in small groups, which still very much in fashion and as the tradition goes are the ones made out of bamboo- weave matting and are neatly cropped palm thatch. Mostly the people in Garo hills are Christian by religion and they are still very superstitious by nature. The Wangala dance is very still active is still performed before the harvesting season. The people are quite superstitious.
