Chittorgarh fort was very well planned in terms of architecture and civic amenities. Among the various water bodies located inside the fort, the Gaumukh reservoir is one of the most important water tank. As the name suggest, the shape of the reservoir resembles the mouth of cow, the most sacred animal in Hindu religion. The reservoir is situated near a temple thereby making it all the more sacred and pious. The natural beauty that surrounds it is a treat for eye and worth capturing on camera. A lot of fish are at home in the reservoir and feeding them is regarded as an auspicious ritual. Clicking snapshots of such a large number of fish while feeding them is surely a treat for nature lovers and photo enthusiast. An underground spring continuously supplies fresh water to the reservoir through a crack in the rock. A brief visit of 30 minutes is sufficient to capture the beauty of the place.
