Gudur is a famous tourist destination in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is nested in a valley. Gudur developed around the temple of Alagantha Swamy, built by Chola Dynasty. The Shirdi Sai baba or Narasingarao temple here is believed to have been built on the advice of baba himself.
One can reach Gudur by road or rail. The best time to visit Gudur is from October to March as during the rest of year the weather is very hot here. Cycle Rickshaws can be hired to travel within the city. Accomodation facility is well established here due to the presence of many Lodges and hotels like Blue diamond lodge and VSR residency. The native language of Gudur is Telugu but the slow pace of the speech here makes the dialect distinct. The Rotary club and Lions club in Gudur are very popular among the people. The people of Gudur are fond of watching movies. Some of the famous movie theatres here are Sundar Mahal, Sangam theatrem Srinivasa teja theatre etc. to the south of town is famous fort hill. Tourist can reach there through the stairway. The climb up is made easier by the shade of trees on the way. The fort is very magnificent and one can see the entire town of Gudur from up here.
Gudur is also famous for the Mica deposits here. The mica belt here is the 2nd largest in India. Besides mica, the aquaculture of Gudur is also very famous.
