Harwan Garden is a delightful tourist spot located near Srinagar which offers tourists a lovely escape in the lap of Mother Nature. The garden charges a nominal entry fee of Rs.10/- per person and is open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm for all days of the week. The beauty of the garden is immense but a visit of 2-3 hours can offer a good attempt to capture the same. The lovely landscape is a treat for photo fanatics and worth a million clicks. The tall Chinar trees border the beautiful canal that flows through the garden. The canal also has a delightful site of blossoming flower beds.
A water reservoir at the top feeds the garden .The garden is an imitation of modern style and bears no resemblance to the Mughal style of architecture. The 4th – 5th Century remains of the Buddhist site of HarwanVihara is at a walkable distance from the garden. The garden is named after this vihara which has only ruins left to illustrate its glorious past. It is also believed that the great Nagarjuna and Kushana king Kanishka may have visited this place too.
