Havelock is by far the most alluring and stunning island of the Andaman group of Islands. Here you will get to see many low priced huts which are made out of bamboo. The island was originally inhabited by the Bengali’s since the 1950’s. The island is located at a distance of 54kms northeast from Port Blair and only covers a distance of 100 sq kms. What is interesting to know is that only the northern one third side of the Island is utilized in residing. If you really want to get away from the hustle and bustle of our fast paced day to day lives, then Havelock is the place for you to visit. One can relax here peacefully without getting stressed and having to think much about time. The island can be accessed easily from Port Blair and in case you like to enjoy snorkeling and scuba diving then here you will find plenty of opportunities to indulge in these activities. Though Havelock is known to be the most developed out of all the islands, but it’s still considered to be extremely low-key and simple a world away from the beach resorts of mainland India or Southeast Asia.
One can see the dock of boats a the No 1 Village , the main bazaar is located at a distance of 2km south at No 3 Village and most of the people here stay on the eastern coast which is located between villages No 2 and No 5.
The closest Sea Port is Haddo Wharf port, Port Blair from where regular passenger ship services are available to or from Chennai, Kolkata ,Visakhapatnam.
