What is the history and culture of Pahalgam?

Whenever you visit a new place it is always good to know a little about the history of the place which you’re visiting. Pahalgam as a place has a place has a very rich and fascinating history and that’s indeed very interesting.
Mirza Muhammad Haider Dughlat was the Mughal Military who initially conquered the city of Pahalgam, in the early 1400's. Even since then Pahalgam was ruled by the Mughal kings and rulers, like Humayun, Sultan Said Khan of Kashgar, and Sultan Ghiyas-ud-Din Zain-ul-Abidin.
Due to the fact that Pahalgam was ruled by Mughal rulers because of this the main cuisine is Mughal in a way and even the handicrafts and clothing like woolens, embroidered shawls, beautiful and lavish carpets of the place demonstrate a very strong Mughal influence. Pahalgam was much later on merged with the kingdom of Kashmir and was then presided over by Abidin for almost 40 years.
Even when the city of Pahalgam was ruled by the Britishers it was an independent state and much later on Pahalgam became an independent Indian state after Indian attained Independence in 1947. There is a very strong influence of both Hindus as well as Muslims as the city is a part of the Indian state of the Kashmir valley. The lifestyle has a very distinct flavor in terms of the clothing, cuisine and even the Kashmiri language. The warm and hospitable hospitality of the Kashmiris is depicted very strongly and is very clearly visible in the way the hotels and guest house welcome the guests. The city boasts of a warm and welcoming hospitality, which is very clearly evident in the several beautiful hotels and guest houses as many people from all over the world visit this serene place.
