India Gate is the pride of India. The gate gives sharp memories of the Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the World War I and the Afghan Wars. It was established in 1921 and unveiled in 1933. The monument was inspired by the Arc de Triomphe de l'Étoile, one of the most famous monuments in Paris.
The monument height is 42 m, the landscape of the gate covers 306,000 m2 in area. It was designed by Edwin Lutyens, a well-known British architect who also designed the Rashtrapati Bhavan, near to India Gate.
There was a statue of George V during the reign of British, but it was removed after the independence of India. Now it has become the memory of soldiers who had lost their lives in the World War I. Every year in the Republic Day, there is a parade organized by the Indian Army starts from Rashtrapati Bhavan and passes through India Gate.
The gate looks beautiful. There are three flags demonstrating three armed forces of India (Navy, Army and Air Force) wave near the gate. There is a steel chain barricade covered the India Gate for protection. The large landscape of the monument attracts Delhities for a pleasant morning walk. The evening time attracts travellers to see the beauty of this giant gate and have fun with friends and family in the large ground. The sunset and the sunrise, both are eye soothing in the India Gate,Delhi. The evening time gathers travellers to enjoy boating in a small boating area of the landscape of the monument. The area is full of greenery. Trees and green grass can be seen throughout the year. It is also dotted abundantly with hawkers, ice-cream vendors, mono artists, Indian snack vendors, mobile restaurants and many more things…
