Jahaz Mahal is situated in Mandu or Mandavgad city of Dhar district in CentralMadhya Pradesh, India. Jahaz Mahal is sculpted in with the grandeur of craftsmen from Delhi. It is built around 1436-1439.
Jahaz Mahal is also called as Ship Palace as it is built by Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din-Khilji in between the two artificial lakes. It seems like a floating ship in water so called as Ship Palace and at that time it was served as a harem for the sultan or emperor.
It is a rectangular structure. It is three feet tall along with two floors and thick walls. On the east side, an entrance shaped as Gothic arch is installed and further shaped into awnings or chajja standing over stone brackets. In the mahal there are three big halls facing the separated corridors having small rooms at the end. At the north side there is terrace leading to a bath. It also have fountains and cascades to enhance its beauty.
