Malana is a bucolic place situated in the Parvati valley ofKullu district and is a comforting place for many travelers. The place is quite popular as it is a starting point for trek or drive to the village Malana. The Malana village holds special significance as the village is home to a unique culture where different rules and laws are followed. If an outsider goes to that village, he or she has to follow those rules otherwise they may have to pay the fines. Also the visitors have to show their identity cards or passports at the entrance then only they can go in to the village.
The non-Hindus and the lower caste people have to follow certain instructions in the village and there is no exception to that rule. However, the culture here is very different from any typical Hindu traditional place. One can either take a taxi or even trek to this village from Jari or Kasol. There are enough arrangements for the outsiders to stay in the village and therefore staying there is never a problem. The village was very well known for its wooden houses before 2008 when half of them burned in fire. Malana is a welcoming place for those who want to explore the hidden beauty in culture and traditions.
