This center plays host to an exhaustive range of plays that include Krishnayan, Kadva Sach, Rangayan, Shastra Dekho Shastra and ‘I will not Cry’, along with a host of mythological and fictional plays in the form of Open Theatre. Established to preserve and maintain Rajasthani arts, culture and crafts, JKK is a successful concept and brainchild of the Rajasthan Government.
Jawahar Kala Kendra is home to a cafeteria, a library, an art-studio, a museum, a small hostel, art-studios, art display rooms, amphi theatre and yes, a closed auditorium too. You would also like to take a small walk through the art galleries of JKK that houses artifacts, paintings and local handicrafts collected over a long period of time.
On a lighter note, if you love south Indian cuisine, then head for its cafeteria—you will the steaming coffee and dosa served on a platter. Also, try to time your visit with one of the events or ongoing presentations. They are exciting and educational too. If you are in the mood for some shopping; then head towards its little curio store-- where you may like to pick up a folder of paintings or some small gifts to take back home.
