Jordan - advice please
Posted on Jul 01, 2013 by
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations about travel in Jordan, particularly the relative merits of buses, shared taxis and rental cars (self drive). I`ve found advice on the Lonely Planet Thorntree page a bit conflicting (as always!) but there are links there to the very useful Jordan.
We will have only 9 days in Jordan (about a week away from Ammann). My impression is that although a combination of buses and shared taxis would be cheaper (we are upper end budget travellers - "flashpackers" I think is the term) and maybe would teach us more about Jordan it`s probably worth the extra cost of renting a car for a week rather than using buses and share taxis. This seems particularly the case for the southern area around Petra, Dana, Wadi Rum etc even if the car is parked somewhere for a couple of days while we are exploring. There will be 3 of us to share costs.
Reliable Rent a Car looks like a good choice with competitive prices - has anyone used this company?
Any advice would be very welcome. We will be in Jordan in late May.
