Kargil is the second largest town of Ladakh (after Leh). This small town gained popularity because of the unfortunate war that happened in year 1999. Visiting Kargil is easy because it is reachable by bus from Leh or Srinagar. It is a very tiny town which can be covered completely on foot, but the scenic beauty it offers is beyond the imagination of those who haven’t visited it yet.
There is a Jameh Mosque which is open for the travelers. One can also buy dry fruits and other stuff from local markets here. One can enjoy the local feeling of this small town and spend a quiet evening here.
This place is mostly visited by people en-route to Leh or Srinagar. If you happen to visit this place, then do not forget to see the view of famously known tiger hill (and other nearby peaks) from here. This place can be visited in the months of May-Jun.
