Laid out in 1760 by Hyder Ali, Lalbagh gardens span over a vast landscaped terrain encompassing 96 acres of land. Enjoy a guided tour in a ten-seater eco-friendly buggy costing Rs.100 per person. The gardens feature centuries old trees and a wide range of plants brought from all across the world. Inside the garden premises lies a beautiful glass house, designed on the tunes of Crystal Palace in London. In the weeks preceding Republic Day (26 January) and Independence Day (15 August), the same glass house hosts flower shows. You can hear the police band performing at the Police Bandstand on Sundays, provided you come early. This place can be visited all days of week at 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The entry fee for Indian is Rs. 10-20/- and same for foreigner.
