65 Kilometers from Panaji in small village called Tambadi Surla lies the very beautiful antique Mahadeva Temple. It is considered one of the oldest hindu temple of Goa. It is said to be made in 1271CE by a Yadava king Ramachandra.
The temple surroundings are very serene blessed with ample natural beauty. There is not much of human settlement over here and it can be scary in dark. The temple is made of finest weather-resistant grey-soapstone. This temple dedicated to Lord Shiva has a pillared porch .There is a three stepped entrances and on the shrine is a tower. There is also an Headless statute Nandi bull(Lord Shiva’s vehicle) in the center of the main porch. Temple becomes lively at the time of Mahashivaratri with locals celebrating it over here.
