The well decorated, stylish and elegant royal palace is one of the rare types of palaces that you will find in India. The walls also include frieze of yellow ducks. The mosaic tiling of various animals of wild gives it an altogether a different look. It is also known as Chit Mandir which means Painted Palace.
The palace was built by Man Singh of Tomar dynasty and hence the name. It was built between 1486 and 1516 and presents a wonderful picture of the architecture of those times. There are two storey building underground as well which was used by the Mughal rulers as the prison. The palace is a must see place while you are visiting the city ofGwalior.
