As you walk along the beach you can see the statues of many actors belonging to the Tamil culture along with the Samadhi of several great leaders like Anna and MGR placed here. In the evening one can enjoy eating the crispy sundal and murukku, and enjoy the cool breeze. There is an aquarium located on the Marina Beach. The best time to visit the Marina beach is during the sunrise and sunset hours as that is a beautiful scene to be enjoyed. A lot of destruction took place on the 26th of December in the year 2004, when a tsunami hit the Marina beach. A lot of people lost their lives here. Though it hasn’t been an easy task to recover from the loss that people suffered both in terms of monetary as well losing their own loved ones, but the local folks have made every possible effort to get their life back on track and welcome tourists each year.
