Around 10kms from Dharamshala,Kangra, there is a beautiful hill station called as Mcleodganj whose aesthetic beauty will take your breaths away. If you visit here, you might wonder that you have reached any Tibetan town. Mcelodganj is home to hundreds of Tibetans in exile including Dalai Lama – the Buddhist religious leader. The Buddhist monastery is the main attraction in this town. There is a BhagsuNagtemple around two kilometers from Mcleodganj and is a major attraction for many tourists. It is a rare place where you will find both Indians and foreigners almost equal in numbers. There is also a market in the main part of the town where you can buy a number of things from the Tibetan shopkeepers. In the main market itself you will find a number of cafes and restaurants.
The popular Mcleo café is very well known for its food. There is also a small village named Dharamkot that is two kilometers from the town. Dharamkot is home to many Israelis and Germans. It is a small village with aesthetic beauty and tranquility. Those who enjoy trekking can take an amazing 9 km trek route to a place called as Triund from Mcleodganj. Triund is located at the top of the mountains and attracts many tourists. Mcleodganj receives moderate levels of snowfall too, but the main event here is the rains. It rains here more often than one would expect. In fact it receives one of the highest rainfalls in the country. If you spend here couple of days, it is almost certain that you will witness the rain once. This place can be visited in between Sep-Jun.
