As one can figure out from the name, the Monkey Temple is actually a home for the monkeys. The place is well known as a place where notorious gimmicks are performed for attracting the attention of the tourists as well as the locals.
The Monkey Temple is also known as Galwar Bagh or Galtaji and this is located in the town of Khaniya Balaji, in the city of Jaipur. People believe that Saint Galav spent his life in this place meditating as well as performing penance at Galtaji. It is quite interesting to know that monkeys from various tribes come at the Monkey Temple and also treat the place as their home, thus justifying the name of the temple in the actual sense. The main deities of the temple are the Hindu gods, Sun and Lord Hanuman.
The temple is set up in the scenic natural settings which are accompanied with lush green fields. One can see the lovely view of the Pink city. The Galwar Bagh is considered to be a very popular pilgrimage site and is known for its natural water springs. The water here is preserved in the ‘kunds’, or tanks and Galta Kund is the holiest of all the seven ‘kunds’ that never goes dry.
