This is an 800 meters high boulder strewn hill which is also known as Girivalam and surrounds the town. On full moon days and the festival periods, you will find the uncountable pilgrims surrounding the 14 km base of the hill. Even if you are not a pilgrim and only here to enjoy the place, you will still have plenty of options to visit and have a wonderful time. The transport is usually very convenient here and is equally cheap. If you enjoy to cycle then you can hire a bicycle which will cost you as little as Rs 3 per hour and you can take it all the way to the temple through the hills and the villages. This is one of the most beautiful rides and you will enjoy the views along the rude. There is a signed path that will take you along the two caves known as Virupaksha and Skandasramam. Sri Ramana maharshi lived and meditated in these caves for almost twenty years after which his followers helped him to set up his own Ashram. Therefore you will have a number of places to explore in these lovely hills. A nice place to visit and enjoy as it remain open all days of week at 8am-12pm.
