This is a modern day temple in Varanasi which was completed in the year of 1931 by Mahabodhi society. There is also a nice bookshop inside the temple where you can get the religious texts. Also Buddha’s first sermon is chanted daily in the evenings here, from 6:00 to 7:00pm.
A bodhi tree which was transplanted in 1931 from a tree in Srilanka which was an offspring of original Bodhgaya tree is situated here. The original Bodhgaya tree was the one under which Buddha passed his teachings to his disciples. Behind the temple there is a large deer park along with a crocodile pool. Thus a number of tourists enjoy the wildlife along with the spiritual aspect of this place. This is one of the beautiful places to visit for both spiritual and tourist reasons. There is an entry fee of Rs 2 for visiting the park.
