This is a Nagar Panchayat and a small town located in Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh and it used to earlier lie in the state of Kangra when it was ruled by the Maharajas. Raja Jodhbir Chand who was the successor to Raja Sansar Chand ruled this area and later on it went into the Hamirpur district. It lies in the Shivalik range on the foothills and is located at a distance of 42 kms. from Kangra lying along the Beas River.
Nadaun is also known as the Innocent city and Bulleh Shah has referred to this place saying Aaye Nadaun Jaaye Kaun meaning that someone who comes here would not want to go. This place lies at ana altitude of 1666 feet and the river almost flows through the town. It is located almost at the middle of the road linking Hamirpur and Jwalamukhi.
