Formed in the year 1997 to promote environmental education, Nature Admire is the brainchild of George Zachariah (a naturalist), Brian Highland (a graduate belonging to HMI, Darjeeling) and Dev Balaji (alumnus of NOLS, Wyoming). This non-profit organization was founded on a shoestring budget and promotes aqua sports like rafting and kayaking; aero sports like parasailing and microlite flying and terrestrial sports like trekking, mountain biking, rock climbing, jungle treks, backpacking and camping.
Known for organizing treks to 65 scenic destinations in India (also in Bhutan, Nepal and Malaysia), Nature Admire is certainly a name to reckon with in these parts of the country. A large number of these treks are linked with the states of Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu—with 12 located in and around Bengaluru itself : Shivaganga, Madhugiri, Anthargange, Makalidurga, Savandurga, Ramanagram, Siddarabetta, Tannur Lake, and Kabalidurga being the most noted among them.
The professionals associated with Nature Admire also organize one- to two-day camping trips which are ideal for weekends. They usually cater to a minimum group of 11 people for encouraging better awareness. Open to people aged between 5 to 70 years, these activities are priced in the range of Rs 700-7,000 per person. This cost is exclusive of transport, accommodation, gear, instructor charges and catering. All the tools and equipments used for trekking or riding purposes are of the highest quality and carefully checked before being put to use.
