Next Travel Plans AND Luggage
Posted on Jul 02, 2013 by
Our next big trip is a 19-day African Safari in late March/early April and are we excited! We`ll fly to Johannesburg then experience Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe, staying at public and private parks and enjoying game drives throughout as well as Victoria Falls.
Now, about the luggage: because of the very small planes we`ll sometimes be on, we are allowed to carry no more that 26 pounds, including carry-on! (and wheels are not allowed!) I`m not worried about clothing; we`ll just have to do more laundry at night. But, by the time we pack binoculars, cameras, lotions & potions, laundrey soap, reading material (paperbacks that can be donated along the way), it will be a challenge to not exceed the limit. The company we are going with is OAT (Overseas Adventure Travel) and they say they`ll be sending a lightweight duffel for each of us. If it`s not light enough, I guess I`ll spend some time at REI and their lightweight duffel selection. Anyone who has had any
experience with such limits--as well as with such a safari-- please advise. Thanks much!
