Nicholson Cemetery is one of the oldest British cemeteries in India. This was named after the General John Nicholson who was also referred to as the” Hero of Delhi”, he died in the Great Revolt in the year 1857.This cemetery is located close to “Kashmere gate”, situated in a 3 hectare area. The cemetery is open from 9:00am – 5:00pm. The Britishers had primarily built this cemetery and memorial for dedicating to the soldiers who died during the First War of Independence. The Ashoka pillar is located quite close to the cemetery.
