opinions needed - Air Canada vs. Delta

I have been researching tickets for my long winter trip to Israel, and after experiencing severe sticker shock i finally found some relatively reasonable prices on Air
Canada and Delta, but i have no experience with either airline. My aunt used to fly Air Canada and was happy with them, but that route requires a 5 hr. Layover in Toronto.
On Delta, i would have to change planes in Atlanta, where the shortest layover would be 1 1/2 hours.
So, my first question is, is 1 1/2 hrs. Enough time to transfer to an international flight in Alanta? And if not, which would be the more "pleasant" airport for a long
layover? Also, how do they compare for service? I think i recently read some bad reports about Delta, but flying through Atlanta there would be much less risk of a weather delay. I`m hoping some of our well travelled have recent experience with both of these airlines and/or airports and can give me some guidance.
