The Patwon ki havelli is known to be the most decorated residence which was originally built by the merchants of Jaisalmer. The entire place is built out of Jaisalmer sandstone and the place is ornamented with jaalis and very fancy façades. One can see that the most skilful stonework has been done on the exteriors and this clearly depicts the amount of wealth these merchant had with them.
The Patwon-ki-Haveli is known to be the biggest and the most decorated havellis of its times and one can see a set of five houses adjoining each other. These were built by five Jain brothers during the first half of the 19th century. These were the five sons of Guman Chand, who was a trader in textiles and precious metals. The place is known to be well known for its carved stone decoration and surely is unmatched and no place can surpass the fragility as well as the sophistication of the Patwon Haveli portico. One can see many walls which have lovely jharokhas which open into the courtyard or the street. The place can be visited on all days of the week from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
