If you are fond of wildlife then this is the place to be in. The Periyar National park and wildlife sanctuary is spread in an area of 925 sq kms. One can see many wild animals like Tigers, leopards, Cheetal, Gaur elephants, and Langurs while boating as well. This is a Tiger reserve and one can even see a Tiger trail.
One can see the tall and green peaks of Pandalam and Cardomom. The Periyar National park and wildlife sanctuary is one of the very well known sanctuaries in India. The sanctuary is home to a huge variety of birds, butterfly, reptilian, amphibian, butterfly and mammalian species. You could even go for a nature walk through the forest and put up your tent right where the S?mbhar and the Toddy cats stroll.
There are many eco-tourism programs held in the Tiger Reserve, which are like camping, day and night trekking, and bamboo rafting. You can easily spot many animals and birds in this sanctuary.
