Festivals are a lifeline of our country and same is true for this mesmerizing city of Calicut. These festivals l reflect the culture, history, spirituality of Calicut.
If you are travelling to Calicut in January, then plan your trip around 13th to 16th January. This is the time when this festival is held every year. One can experience beautiful dance forms like Kathakali, Mohiniyattom, Ottanthullal etc and ritual art forms like Koothu, Thewam, Thira etc. in this festival.
Jalotsavm is a part of Onam which is the biggest festival of Kerala and is celebrated by one and all. These Jalotsavms are held at Korapuzha, Moorad and Pongilodippara. Snake boat, events is the highlight of this festival.
Utsavam at Shri Kanteswara temple:
It is a seven week celebration of Shivrartri . It comes around Feb 20th. Elephant processions, fireworks, exhibitions and fairs are an interesting part of this festival.
