The people of Jamnagar are very fond of celebrating festivals and are extremely religious. The Hindu culture is very prominent in the city of Jamnagar. The festivals which are celebrated in Jamnagar with a lot of enthusiasm are Navratri, Janmashtami fair and Holi.
The People of Jamnagar are very fond of celebrating Navratri, which is the dedicated to the Goddess Durga and this is celebrated for 9 nights. This is the biggest of all the festivals celebrated here. This festival starts 9 nights before Dusherra. The feeling of participating in this festival is simply unbelievable and truly cannot be described in words. The city is decorated all over and people are full of enthusiasm. Lot of garbas, ras, dance parties, gatherings and various dance forms are all organized during Navratri. There is so much of fun and excitement in the air that people especially come to visit the city of Jamnagar for celebrating the Navratri and enjoy being a part of the celebrations. Food is also given a lot of importance during the festival of Navratri and lots of delicacies are made for adding flavor to this festival.
The fair of Janmashtmi, is celebrated to rejoice the birth of the Hindu god Lord Krishna. People especially visit the Dwarkadhish Temple to enjoy this fair. The Janmashtami fair is usually held in the month of August and this festival truly add the colors of devotion and spirituality to the religious environment of this city. Devotees of Lord Krishna visit the temple of Dwarkadhish from all over the world to be a part of this fair.
Holi is mostly celebrated by the Bhoi community of Jamnagar. Holi as a festival is celebrated with a lot of style and excitement. The festival is mostly celebrated in mid-March, and is one of the major festivals of the Bhoi community.
