Maha – Shivratri:
It is the most important festivals of Kashmiri Hindus. But it is celebrated in Harmony with Muslims. It comes around in the month of February. Unlike other parts of India Shivratri is more than a 21 days long celebration in Kashmir. The festival begins on the first day of Phalgun Krishna Paksha and ends on the Amavasi day in Phalgun(Spring time). Each day there is some or the other celebration.
It is the Kashmiri Pandit New YearIt comes around in the month of March/April, coincides with Chaitra Navratra. There is a feeling of happiness and gaiety all over the city.
